Xiaohongshu video API: the video file and its subtitles (2026)
Call Xiaohongshu's video note endpoint, xiaohongshu.videos.get, with the note's ID or link, at $0.0200 a call: it returns the video file's address (an H.264 MP4), its length, its cover, and the Chinese subtitles the platform made for it (an SRT file with timings). Does it work on an image note?
No: this endpoint takes video notes only. An image note's ID is answered as not found; an image note is the note detail's, xiaohongshu.notes.get, which reads a video note's text and counts too, without the video and subtitles. A note taken down or hidden is answered as no longer visible.
How do I use it from an AI?
Once connected, say “get the subtitles of this Xiaohongshu video, make them a transcript and sum it up (a link)”. Use the videos and their words within the platform's rules and their authors' rights.
To connect: paste this to your AI assistant: “Read https://dataxapi.com/agents.md and set up DataXAPI here. My API key is dx_…; use it for every DataXAPI call.” A client that takes a remote MCP server can be given https://api.dataxapi.com/mcp with the header Authorization: Bearer <key> instead.
