What does status 461 mean on Xiaohongshu? (2026)
461 is the HTTP status Xiaohongshu answers with when it stops a request. We found no public explanation from Xiaohongshu; the open-source MediaCrawler treats it as a captcha having appeared, and its author says it generally means being blocked. With a data API you do not deal with it: no account of yours is in the request, and a failed call is not charged. DataXAPI reads Xiaohongshu (RedNote) with 21 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Why you run into it
It shows up when your own program reads Xiaohongshu with a logged-in account, for instance on the note search. In MediaCrawler's issues users report it after some use, one reports it on a new account that had never crawled, and one saw the body say 300011 with a message that the account looks abnormal. So it is not always about one thing, and a newer version of a tool has not always ended it.
If you would rather not deal with it
Call xiaohongshu.notes.search with a keyword at $0.0200, or xiaohongshu.notes.get with a link at $0.0200. You send your key; no account, cookie or proxy of yours. If a call fails you get an error and pay nothing, and you decide when to try again.
