Can ChatGPT read Xiaohongshu (RedNote)?
Not on its own: ChatGPT has no interface of its own to Xiaohongshu's notes and comments. Add DataXAPI to ChatGPT as a connector, and it can call the Xiaohongshu endpoints when you ask, for notes, comments, creators and PGY data, each call paid as it is made. DataXAPI reads Xiaohongshu (RedNote) with 21 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.
How to add it to ChatGPT
ChatGPT takes outside services as connectors, by DataXAPI's MCP address: in Settings, under Apps & Connectors, turn on developer mode in the advanced settings, create a connector with the MCP address, and choose OAuth as its authentication.
ChatGPT then asks you to sign in to DataXAPI and approve on its consent page. There you pick one of your keys, or make a new one with a spending limit; no key is typed into ChatGPT.
What it can do once connected
DataXAPI's MCP server has five tools: find, describe, call, read_more and account. Say "search Xiaohongshu for coffee and get the comments under the top 10 notes", and the AI finds the endpoints, checks their prices and parameters, then calls them a page at a time.
Each call takes one page and is charged on its own, and every answer says what it cost and what balance is left. A long result comes in parts: the rest is read on by its result ID and is not charged again.
Other AI clients
Claude on the web and in the desktop app also takes a custom connector with the MCP address, in Settings; Claude Code, Cursor and Codex are set up with one command, dataxapi setup; Cherry Studio and n8n take the address and your key in their MCP settings.
