How do Claude Code, Cursor and Codex read Xiaohongshu without cookies? (2026)
From $0.0200 a call, with no account or cookie of yours: connect DataXAPI's MCP server by pasting one sentence with your key into the agent, and it sets itself up. Then ask in plain words, and it searches notes and reads comments on that key. DataXAPI reads Xiaohongshu (RedNote) with 21 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Set it up
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex: “Read https://dataxapi.com/agents.md and set up DataXAPI in this agent. My API key is dx_…; use it for every DataXAPI call.”
Or from a terminal: npx dataxapi setup writes the entry for all three and installs the base skill. It does not write your key: put that in the environment variable DATAXAPI_API_KEY.
| Client | Where the entry goes |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | ~/.claude.json |
| Cursor | ~/.cursor/mcp.json |
| Codex | ~/.codex/config.toml |
What to ask, and what it comes to
“Search Xiaohongshu for sunscreen reviews and tell me what the comments under the top 5 notes complain about.” That is one search and 5 pages of comments: 6 calls at $0.0200, $0.12.
“List the notes of this creator and sort them by likes.” Give it the profile link as you copied it. Finding an endpoint and reading its parameters are free; only call is charged, and the agent can see the price first. Give it its own key with a limit.
Endpoints
Each with its price; every page has the parameters, the fields and a recorded response.
