How do I collect WeChat Official Account articles in n8n? (2026)
Two ways. For a fixed schedule, an HTTP Request node calls DataXAPI's article list, at $0.0200 an account each time. To let an AI decide what to read, an MCP Client Tool node connects to https://api.dataxapi.com/mcp. 10 accounts checked once a day come to $6 a month, with no WeChat account and no scan. DataXAPI reads WeChat Official Accounts with 8 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.
Download the workflow file, and in n8n choose Import from File on a new workflow. Replace the id in the HTTP Request node with the account's original ID, then create a Bearer Auth credential holding your key alone. It runs every day at 9 and gives one item per article. The file follows n8n's documents as read on the date below; we have not run it in your version.
On a schedule: HTTP Request
1. Schedule Trigger: when to run.
2. HTTP Request: method GET, URL https://api.dataxapi.com/v1/wechat_mp/accounts/articles/list. Turn on Send Query Parameters with id set to the account's original ID. Under Authentication choose the generic credential type, then Bearer Auth, and enter your key alone as the token.
3. Split Out: Field to Split Out is data.items. Each item then has id, title, url and published_at. Compare id with what you stored to keep the new ones.
4. For the full text, another HTTP Request: https://api.dataxapi.com/v1/wechat_mp/articles/get with url set to {{ $json.url }}, at $0.0200 an article. Only know an account's name? wechat.accounts.search finds the original ID, once.
Letting an AI choose: MCP Client Tool
Attach an MCP Client Tool node to an AI Agent node. Endpoint is https://api.dataxapi.com/mcp, Server Transport is HTTP Streamable, Authentication is Bearer Auth, and the token is your key alone. Then ask from a chat trigger: “Use DataXAPI to list this account's latest articles and summarise them.” You also pay for the model.
What it comes to
10 accounts once a day are 300 calls at $0.0200, $6. Full text for 60 new articles adds $1.20, so $7.20. A failed call is not charged. Give this key a daily limit in the console. These steps follow n8n's documents as read on the date below; its screens may differ in your version.
