What do mid, idx and sn mean in a WeChat article link?

Beside the account's __biz, a WeChat Official Account article's long link carries mid, the send the article went out in, idx, its place in that send, and sn, a check string. A link is only whole with all four. DataXAPI reads WeChat Official Accounts with 8 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Each parameter

idx: one send can carry several articles, and idx is the article's place. WeChat's own documents count it from 1 in the message push (Idx, which article of a multi-article message) and from 0 in the comment interface (index), so check which one a tool means.

mid: as public open-source tools describe it, the number of the send. WeChat's own interfaces call a send msg_data_id; that the link's mid is the same number is not in WeChat's documents. One open-source exporter calls it appmsgid, and the place in the send itemidx.

sn: a check parameter. As public open-source tools describe it, a link needs __biz, mid, idx and sn together before they will read an article's counts. In the links DataXAPI has recorded, sn is 32 hexadecimal characters, and WeChat does not open an article without it.

What DataXAPI takes

wechat_mp.articles.metrics takes only the long link with all four, https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s?__biz=<Base64>&mid=<digits>&idx=2&sn=<32 hex characters> (placeholders: here the second article of a send). wechat_mp.articles.get and wechat_mp.articles.comments.list also take the short /s/ link.

A long link cut before sn, or with an sn that is not 32 hexadecimal characters, is refused before anything is sent or charged. wechat_mp.accounts.articles.list returns long links, so its links go into the counts endpoint as they are.
