Can Douyin's open platform read other people's videos and comments? (2026)
Generally not. Its video data interface needs the user's authorisation and a reviewed permission, and shows the numbers of what that user published. To read any public video, account or comment, developers generally use a third-party data API. DataXAPI reads Douyin with 36 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

What it is for
It serves apps and sites that a Douyin user signs in to: their own profile, their own videos' numbers, and data services such as lists, which also need a permission. It is the right choice when your users authorise you.
To read what is public
With DataXAPI you search videos, read a video and its comments, read an account and its videos by key: no app to register, no review and no user's authorisation.
Endpoints
