What is msToken on Douyin? (2026)

As of 2026 msToken is a token on the requests Douyin's web pages send. We found no public explanation from Douyin; open-source projects keep it with the other values a request carries. With a data API you do not fetch or keep it: you give a link or a keyword, and a page of a video's comments is $0.0020. DataXAPI reads Douyin with 36 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Why you run into it

You see it among the parameters when you read a Douyin request in your browser, or in the settings of a tool you run yourself. MediaCrawler reads it from the browser's storage, which is one reason it keeps a browser open. It usually comes up with a_bogus, a separate parameter.

If you would rather not deal with it

Send your key and the parameters the endpoint lists: url for douyin.videos.comments.list, query for douyin.videos.search. A page's cursor does expire, and the answer gives you its time limit; no token is yours to keep.

Endpoints

Each with its price; every page has the parameters, the fields and a recorded response.
