What are a_bogus and X-Bogus on Douyin? (2026)

As of 2026 they are signature parameters on the requests Douyin's web pages send. We found no public explanation from Douyin; open-source projects describe them as values a request has to carry. With a data API you do not produce either: you give a video link, a keyword or an account, and $0.0020 buys a video's details. DataXAPI reads Douyin with 36 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Why you run into them

You see them when you open your browser's network panel on Douyin, or when a tool of your own stops getting answers. MediaCrawler's Douyin requests carry a_bogus today, and the f2 project has code for both, so a tutorial may name either one. How they are worked out is not something we cover.

If you would rather not deal with them

Each job is one call. A video from its link: douyin.videos.get, $0.0020. Its comments: douyin.videos.comments.list, $0.0020 a page. Search: douyin.videos.search, $0.0200 a page. An account's videos: douyin.users.videos.list, $0.0020 a page. None takes a signature, an account or a cookie from you.

Endpoints

Each with its price; every page has the parameters, the fields and a recorded response.
