# Can Douyin's open platform read other people's videos and comments? (2026)

Generally not. Its video data interface needs the user's authorisation and a reviewed permission, and shows the numbers of what that user published. To read any public video, account or comment, developers generally use a third-party data API. DataXAPI reads Douyin with 36 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

## What it is for

It serves apps and sites that a Douyin user signs in to: their own profile, their own videos' numbers, and data services such as lists, which also need a permission. It is the right choice when your users authorise you.

## To read what is public

With DataXAPI you search videos, read a video and its comments, read an account and its videos by key: no app to register, no review and no user's authorisation.

## Endpoints

- [Douyin video search](https://dataxapi.com/apis/douyin/videos/search/) ($0.0200 / a call): Search Douyin videos by terms, a page at a time, sorted by relevance, newest or most liked and filtered by time posted: caption, author with follower count, engagement counts.
- [Douyin video detail](https://dataxapi.com/apis/douyin/videos/get/) ($0.0020 / a call): Get one Douyin video or image post by ID or link: caption, author, engagement counts, time posted.
- [Douyin video comments](https://dataxapi.com/apis/douyin/videos/comments/list/) ($0.0020 / a call): Get a page of comments on a Douyin video: text, commenter, likes, reply count, time posted.
- [Douyin user profile](https://dataxapi.com/apis/douyin/users/get/) ($0.0020 / a call): Get a Douyin user's profile by account ID or profile link: name, handle, bio, follower, following and post counts, total likes, verification.
