The 169 endpoints
Every endpoint answers in one response shape. The Returns column names the object each one gives.
Questions about Social media data
Short answers. Each endpoint's page has its own limits and examples.
TikTok comment replies API →How much does it cost?
$0.0020 a call on 121 endpoints; $0.0200 a call on 30 endpoints; $0.0004 per item returned on 5 endpoints; $0.0003 per item returned on 4 endpoints; $0.0001 per item returned on 2 endpoints; $0.0400 a call on 2 endpoints; $0.0040 a call on 1 endpoint; $0.0003 a call on 1 endpoint; $0.0090 a call on 1 endpoint; $0.0004 a call on 1 endpoint; $0.0060 a call on 1 endpoint. You are charged when data comes back; a failed call costs nothing. No subscription, no monthly minimum.
Do I need an account on the platform?
No. One DataXAPI key reads all 20 platforms. No platform account and no cookie.
What if a platform does not have a field?
The field is left out of the item and named in meta.unavailable on every answer. It is never filled with a guess or a zero.
Am I charged for an empty result?
On 110 of the 169 endpoints an empty result is charged as a call: the platform was read and had nothing to give. Each endpoint's page says which. Errors and timeouts are never charged.
Is a like on Douyin the same field as a like on YouTube?
Yes. Posts, accounts and comments of every platform come back as the same objects, so metrics.likes is in the same place everywhere. What only one platform has goes under ext, in the full view: Bilibili's coins, or Reddit's score, which is votes and is not counted as likes.
How do I read a whole comment thread?
List a post's comments, then pass a comment's id, and on most platforms its post_id, to the platform's replies endpoint; YouTube takes the comment's ext.replies_token instead. Each reply says what it answers in parent_id and which top-level comment it hangs under in root_id. On X (Twitter) a reply is itself a post: the post's replies endpoint returns them.
Can I get what is said in a video?
Yes, on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and Reddit, and for ads in the Meta Ad Library. TikTok, YouTube and Reddit give timed segments as well as the whole text. Instagram and X read videos up to two minutes long; LinkedIn has a transcript only where LinkedIn itself publishes one.
Is a keyword index a number of searches?
No. The keyword, brand and topic indexes of Douyin's trend-index (巨量算数) and the keyword index of Xiaohongshu's PGY (蒲公英) are each platform's own score. The two platforms' indexes are not on one scale: compare a keyword with itself over time, or with another keyword on the same platform. Each day is a calendar day in China time.
