GummySearch shuts down on December 1: what do I use for Reddit research? (2026)
GummySearch stopped taking new users on 2025-11-30 and says it shuts down entirely on 2026-12-01, deleting all user data, so export yours first. To go on, you can read Reddit's public posts and comments with DataXAPI and have your own AI do the analysis, from $0.0020 a call. DataXAPI reads Reddit with 11 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

Why it closed
Its founder says GummySearch relied on Reddit's Data API, tried to get a commercial licence and could not reach an agreement, so it closed rather than run without one. That is GummySearch's account of its own case.
DataXAPI reads what is publicly visible. Check Reddit's terms for your use, and ask your lawyer if it is commercial.
What each job takes
GummySearch's ready-made themes and audiences are not here: you get the posts and comments, and your own AI sorts them.
| Job | Endpoint | A page |
|---|---|---|
| Search posts on a topic, by time and score | reddit.posts.search | About 7, up to 25 |
| Read a community's posts | reddit.subreddits.posts.list | About 25 |
| Read a post's comments | reddit.posts.comments.list | About 8, up to 200 |
Size up a community: members; weekly active users with view=full | reddit.subreddits.get | One |
| See what is trending today | reddit.trends.list | About 6 |
What a round comes to
All at $0.0020 a call: 10 communities × 2 pages, 20 searches and the comments of 50 posts are 90 calls, $0.18. Ask your AI: “Read what r/skincare and these searches say about sunscreen, and list the complaints, with how many times each comes up and a quote.” A failed call is not charged.
Endpoints
Each with its price; every page has the parameters, the fields and a recorded response.
