Reddit data APIs

Keep Reddit's community, post, and comment hierarchy intact so research can move from a keyword hit back to its public conversation context.

Choose a Reddit API by community question

Choose between post discovery, a known post, or its comment context, then inspect the matching Endpoint's real status and limitations.

Discover public posts

Search public posts by keyword and extend the sample to public comments or media when needed.

Verify a known post

Read one or several known public posts to verify text, author, and public engagement facts.

Read the comment context

Expand the public comment tree for a known post while preserving reply hierarchy and context.

What to know before using Reddit data

  • Only public posts and comments declared by the current Endpoints are in scope; private communities, messages, and deleted content are not.
  • Search and community feeds change with time, sorting, and public content and are not an exhaustive Reddit-wide sample.
  • Availability is independent per Endpoint; a paused page remains readable but cannot execute or charge.

Connect one Reddit research workflow

  1. Start with a keyword or known post URL.
  2. Check the Endpoint's current status first; paused capabilities retain documentation but are not runnable.
  3. Review sorting, time-window, pagination, and comment-tree limits before accepting the static example.
  4. When the capability is available, validate it in Playground and then use a minimally scoped API key.

Reddit API questions

Does post search represent all of Reddit?

No. Results depend on the query, sort, time, and current public index. They form a traceable sample, not a Reddit-wide share estimate.

Why does an Endpoint page exist while paused?

The page preserves the stable Contract, limitations, and reference price for evaluation. New execution opens only after an independent runtime gate passes.

Can a paused test run charge my balance?

No. New execution stops before the upstream request and balance reservation, and the page status explains that it is unavailable.
