# YouTube transcript extractor

Paste a YouTube video link and read what is said in it: the full text, and every line with its start and end time. One lookup is one call: $0.0020 from your own balance, the same price as the API. A failed lookup is not charged.

## What the numbers mean

- Text: Everything said in the video, as one string.
- Segments: Each line with where it starts and ends, in seconds from the beginning of the video.
- Language: The language of the transcript, where the platform says it.
- Nothing said: A video the platform has no transcript for comes back empty.

## Questions

### Why do I need to sign in?

Each lookup is a real call and costs $0.0020. Nothing on this site makes a call for a visitor who is not signed in. Signing in takes an email address, and the lookup then runs on your own balance.

### Which links work?

A link to one YouTube post or video, as the address bar shows it (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ), or its ID.

### Which videos have a transcript?

Videos the platform has captions or a transcript for. One without comes back empty.

### Can I get plain text?

Yes. The result has the whole text in one field, and the timed segments beside it.
