# BV and AV converter (B站)

Paste a B站 (Bilibili) BV number, an AV number or a video link and get the other number: BV17x411w7KC is av170001. The two are one ID written two ways, so it runs in your browser: no sign-in, and nothing is sent anywhere. The video itself is one API call, $0.0020.

## How it works

A BV number is the AV number written another way. The AV number is XOR-ed with a fixed key, written in base 58 with B站's own shuffled alphabet, and two pairs of characters trade places; reading it back undoes the same three steps. Nothing is looked up, so the answer is exact and instant. B站 moved its links from AV to BV numbers in March 2020; an old `av` link still opens the same video.
