# What does Zhihu error 40362 mean? (2026)

40362 is the code in the answer Zhihu gives with the message 您当前请求存在异常，暂时限制本次访问 (your request looks abnormal, and this visit is limited for now). We found no further public explanation from Zhihu. With a data API you do not deal with it: a page of search is $0.0020, with no account or cookie of yours, and a failed call is not charged. DataXAPI reads Zhihu with 16 endpoints, from $0.0020 a call; a failed call is not charged.

## Why you run into it

It comes up when your own program reads Zhihu. In MediaCrawler issue 435, requests to Zhihu's search address came back with `code` 40362. The author traced it to how the search keyword was handled, changed a little code, and the reporter said it then worked. So it does not always mean your account or your rate; the message does not say which. How to get past it is not something we cover.
