# What is a WeChat Official Account's original ID (gh_)?

The original ID is the fixed ID of a WeChat Official Account (公众号), starting with gh_, like gh_0123456789ab (made up). It is not the account's name; DataXAPI's account endpoints take it as id, and an article's author.id gives it. DataXAPI reads WeChat Official Accounts with 8 endpoints, from $0.0200 a call; a failed call is not charged.

## Where you see it

In WeChat's own developer documents, the messages an account's server receives name the account in `ToUserName`, described as the developer's WeChat ID, and the examples give it as a `gh_` value. Its owner sees it in the account's admin, under the registration details of the account settings, as a third-party setup guide describes it.

It is not the account's name, which can be the same for several accounts, nor the alias an account can set; an article's `author.username` carries the alias.

## Which endpoints take or return it

`wechat_mp.accounts.get` takes it as `id` and returns the account's name, IP location, number of original articles and its linked WeChat Channels account (`ext.channels_id`). `wechat_mp.accounts.articles.list` takes it as `id` and returns the account's articles, newest first.

Knowing only the name: search with `wechat.posts.search`, which gives no account ID but gives an article's link, then get the article with `wechat_mp.articles.get`; its `author.id` is the original ID.

- [WeChat Search articles and videos](https://dataxapi.com/apis/wechat/posts/search/) ($0.0200 / a call): Get a page of WeChat Search results for search terms: Official Account articles and Channels videos mixed, each saying in type whether it is an article or a video; by relevance, newest or hottest, filtered by time posted: title or description, the source account's name, time published, an article's link, a video's likes and saves. WeChat Search gives no account ID.
